Electronic Learning is a mode of delivering or making content accessible to learners via the web or online (Online Learning), via computer networks, CD or DVD, mobile phones and other electronic and mobile technologies. E-Learning helps expand the student’s convenience and access to learning materials, to other students working online and to the course facilitators/lecturers. Via e-Learning, a student will gain skills that are required in increasingly technology-oriented workspaces and job markets.

At Makerere University, the Institute of Open, Distance and eLearning (IODEL) is mandated with the operationalization of Open, Distance and eLearning.
